Overlooking the Severn River in the community of Sherwood Forest, this new house will replace an existing, obsolete, cottage that has suffered many ill-conceived remodelings over the years. Navigating within the constraints of the "Rube Goldberg" neighborhood design committee, the architecture of new design mimics the cottages that originally filled this summer community, offering a familiar face on the public side of the house. The back side of the house, facing out towards the Severn River only 150 feet beyond, opens up with large expanses of windows and doors allowing the house to capture the water views, while the details reference back to the original Adirondack style cottages.
