After recently completing some interior design renovations, this client contacted Good Architecture to design a subterranean, earth-sheltered, racquetball court in the rear yard of their historic Georgian house in Baltimore. Additionally, the existing basement floor is to be lowered and space finished to add usable space to the existing house. To elegantly connect the existing house, new refinished basement and the subterranean racquetball court, a traditionally detailed helical stair was designed with a traditional conservatory on the main level to allow light to filter down to the lowest levels of the new racquetball court area.
