This project is located in a century-old community established as a summer retreat. Original cottages, averaging only 750 SF, were designed in the picturesque Adirondack rustic style employing green, horizontal siding, rustic locust post porches, railings and architectural ornament – all prescribed by design covenant. The design solution sinks the bulk of the new house into the steep grade under a green roof. From the approach, all that is visible is a small, iconic, pavilion about the size of an original cottage functioning as entrance to the house below and as a garden pavilion overlooking the landscaped green roof and river views. Overall the design incorporates the latest developments in energy efficient design.
