Located in the heart of the Annapolis Historic District, 132 Charles Street is a circa 1885 three-story brick Italianate townhouse. The owners wished to add a conservatory breakfast room with views of the garden, a mud entry room with new access to the basement, an updated kitchen, new bathrooms, and renovated gardens. The design resulted in an adaptation of historic architecture that acknowledged its roots while accommodating the aesthetic and functional expectations of contemporary lifestyles. All work was performed under the purview of the Annapolis Preservation Commission and adhered strictly to the Secretary of Interiors Standards for Rehabilitation.
