Sited on a very slender ridge surrounded by Valentine Creek near Annapolis, Maryland, this new house was designed as a small village of rustic wood, stone, and glass structures. Entering through a narrow “dogtrot” between two small carriage houses, one emerges onto a light-washed boardwalk with a grass courtyard and a controlled glimpse of the water beyond. The entry foyer continues the choreographed unveiling of water views within the house, while the main living room with its floor-to-ceiling steel windows opens up to reveal the primary panoramic water views.
