The Chesapeake Bay Tidewater region is a veritable museum of many of the finest examples of eighteenth century “American” Georgian domestic architecture. While contemporary in program and execution, this new house distills and reflects both the casual charm of a classic tidewater country manor and the graceful formality of the great eighteenth century Georgian houses of Annapolis and Maryland's Eastern Shore. With a site that offered a 270-degree water view, the resulting design is a series of one-room deep structures, each housing a different function, arranged around a central motor court. Every space is afforded unique water views, balanced natural illumination, and good cross ventilation.
